Townsend was fascinated by the infinite natural, artistic and cultural beauties – steeped in the heritage of the civilizations that have passed through it: Greeks, Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Staufi, Angevins, Aragonese and Bourbons – and decided to capture the essences that bring back their memories. Eastern Sicily and, as mentioned above, mainly Ortigia becomes for Townsend the heart of its production of artistic perfumery. A magical place where her professionalism and experience has the possibility to express itself at its best in her brand “Ortigia”. The artistic perfumery of Ortigia is an explosion of colors and aromas – exclusively natural – that become matter in products for the home and the body such as perfumes, creams, soaps, candles and diffusers.
The care of this brand is not only limited to the wide selection of essences, but also has an eye and extreme care for the packaging. Each Ortigia box is entirely designed by Sue Townsend using silver foil and embossing. The leopard and the palm tree – the company’s logo – are constant icons of the company. The colors are those typical of the palette of the Sicilian land and the images refer to the mosaics of the Norman Palace in Palermo, the oldest royal residence in Europe. These representations of golden mosaics, palms and leopards are also found in precious tableware, such as trays, plates up to some garments and much more to be discovered by browsing the site.

Black Amber
Definitely lingering thanks to the base notes of amber, labdanum which gives it a woody smell. Galbanum gives it a rich and spicy scent.

The famous prickly pear cactus grows lush and wild in Sicily, has beautiful, vibrant orange flowers and gives character to this scent.

A soft and delicate combination of narcissus, wild iris and jasmine as floral, feminine and sensual intense heart notes. A soft and delicate fragrance.
JASMINE
White flowers of the noblest and most fragrant jasmine grandiflorum. Harvested at dawn, it gives a floral and enveloping heart note. Amber tail notes, warm and sensual due to the presence of vanilla and benzoin resin. Aristocratic and sensual fragrance.
