Furnishing a home in the majestic mountains is an art that demands the right blend of elegance and creativity.

Amidst the tendrils of smoke gracefully dancing in the fireplace, the rustic wooden beams that whisper ancient tales, and the enveloping carpets, there exists a realm of exclusive potential. How does one translate this vision into a modern reality without treading the well-worn paths? Here are the enlightening ideas and advice from our interior design experts, ready to guide you in creating a dream home even at high altitudes.

A Mountain Living Room, Where Wood Takes Center Stage

We often envision mountain homes as charming abodes constructed from stone and wood, nestled amidst unspoiled nature. However, these traditions can be imbued with contemporary vitality by introducing unexpected touches that breathe new life into the surroundings. The art lies in skillfully pairing traditional materials with surprising finishes, thus crafting a unique blend of past and present.

In our project for a sumptuous residence in Cortina, the timeless elegance of wooden walls harmoniously merges with the sensuality of leather and the gleam of gold in Henge’s wall lamp. The lamp, with its iridescent finish, contemporizes the antique studs once hammered into wood, adding a touch of refinement that doesn’t go unnoticed.

The wall lamp isn’t just an eye-catching decorative element; it contributes to creating a dynamic and contemporary atmosphere in the room, thanks to its rounded forms. The same effect is achieved by bold chandeliers that breathe life into a ceiling defined by linear and rational beams.

Design Elements for the Entrance

Before crossing the threshold, one is greeted by an entrance porch, where the charm of wood is enriched with steel details. Here, the oxidized finish of the circular brazier stands out; it’s not just a decorative piece but also functions as a fireplace, a wood holder, and a surface for various uses.

Upon entering the home, the entrance serves as a calling card and should leave a lasting impression. Objects inspired by the mountain environment are key to capturing attention. In the case of our project in Cortina, a stately “stube” shares the stage with Baxter’s Mongolian fur armchairs, adorned with long, pristine fur.

On the other hand, in another captivating mountain residence curated by our team of experts, the entrance is animated with a more modern design. Here, a grand Fiam mirror takes center stage, reflecting and amplifying the space with its gleaming frame. A splash of unexpected yellow is added by a rug, infusing vibrancy into this cozy setting.

A Home Spa with Sauna and Hot Tub

The height of luxury is to unwind in a private spa, enveloped in warmth, while the mountains outside are blanketed in snow. A home spa is a design choice that bestows moments of profound indulgence. And if this wellness area includes a sauna and a hot tub, the pleasure becomes supreme.

Our designers eagerly respond to such requests. In an exclusive high-mountain residence, we’ve fashioned a sensory room entirely sheathed in wood, equipped with every conceivable comfort.

Special attention has been devoted to lighting, with hidden LED lights among exposed beams, creating indirect lighting that enhances visual comfort and fosters a relaxing ambiance. The hot tub appears suspended, thanks to floor-level lighting, while the sauna is characterized by LED strips integrated into the walls. Outside, a Paola Lenti-upholstered chaise lounge awaits for moments of ultimate comfort.

A Mountain Bathroom with Design Elements

In the bathroom, we’ve chosen to blend wood with plasters, creating a fusion of tradition and modernity. Parquet flooring and exposed beams are characteristic details in this space. The hot tub, an undisputed centerpiece, has been positioned unconventionally, rotated in relation to the walls. This sculptural block is illuminated by LED spotlights and visually connects to a spacious shower, separated only by a transparent surface.

Perfect Design Elements for Your Mountain Retreat

In our design journey for a mountain residence, we’ve chosen unique design objects that enhance the ambiance, alongside wood. An example is the pendant lamp by Catellani&Smith, which employs aluminum to create sinuous curves inspired by majestic mountains, while the gold inside its shade evokes fiery sunsets amidst the peaks.

In a residence in Cortina, a chandelier by Fendi Casa unequivocally recalls the antlers of a deer, adding a touch of luxury and surprise to the environment. This luminous creation illuminates a Mongolian fur armchair, paying homage to the surrounding nature.

Solid wood is the traditional material of the mountains, but it can be transformed into exclusive design elements. Our team has selected a Riva 1920 table and a corner bench, seamlessly integrating them into the surroundings, combining tradition and modernity.

The selection of furnishings for a mountain residence necessitates a profound understanding of materials and design brands. With this knowledge, Forma Design’s designers are capable of crafting an unparalleled style, one that fulfills the client’s needs and creates exclusive residences defined by refined design and maximum comfort.
