MATERIAL SENSATIONS: BAXTER DOCET

“We shape materials with great spontaneity, obsessed by our passion and curiosity.”

The Baxter collection stands out for its use of precious and natural materials, ranging from metals to wood, leather to resins, glass to marble. Each piece is unique, conveying value, authenticity, and a strong material identity.

Founded in 1990 on the shores of Lake Como by Luigi and Paolo Bestetti, Baxter represents one of the most authentic expressions of contemporary Made in Italy. Despite its relatively recent history, the company is rooted in a solid manufacturing tradition, inspired by the art of master saddlers.

The heart of Baxter’s production is leather, handcrafted until it becomes hide through exclusive processes. The collections offer a rich palette of textures and colors: from Chantilly White to Saffron Yellow, from Blueberry Blue to Extra Black, offering unique sensory and tactile experiences.

Alongside leather, Baxter is constantly expanding its research into other materials: natural marble, metals, fine woods, Murano glass, terracotta, and resins. Each material is selected and crafted with the utmost respect for its original characteristics, preserving its beauty and sensorial properties.

The result is furniture that excels in comfort, material depth, and aesthetic quality, with surfaces that alternate glossy, sandblasted, or Kashmir finishes. An iconic example is the Kashmir Prune swivel armchair, designed by Paola Navone, crafted from an exclusive leather that transcends the traditional concept of nubuck.

The Baxter style is born from the encounter between English elegance and Italian flair, reinterpreted with a contemporary twist. Collaborations with designers such as Paola Navone, Christophe Delcourt, Hannes Peer, Studiopepe, Pietro Russo, and Draga & Aurel have given rise to diverse yet consistently coherent collections, united by a strong corporate identity.

The leather philosophy extends to all raw materials, always used in a pure and authentic manner. This consistency is also reflected in the company’s environmental commitment: Baxter was among the first companies in the industry to obtain CasaClima Class A certification, back in 2011, for a low environmental impact and high comfort workplace.

Baxter is not just designer furniture, but a vision that combines materials, craftsmanship, and sustainability, giving shape to intense, sophisticated, and timeless environments.
